TeXnicle

TeX is a really cool thing. But sometimes, it’s just too complicated to use it! TexShop on Mac is a nice app, which in conjunction with other packages can offer a live preview. But, before having a big headache, consult this and this. Still, I’m not able to make it work. So maybe the best option for the moment is to use TeXnicle.

If you installed MacTex, there is a software called TeX Live Utility inside the bundle. In this package, you have the possibility to install new packages that are on the CTAN. Also, if you click on « Packages » and then the name of the package that you want to use, you’ll find all the documentation on the package (and all the options on those!). It is the most comprehensive information ever written for LaTeX in my opinion. I’ve used LaTeX for a certain time but this would have save me a lot of time!

TeXnicCenter provides a clean and modern user interface, which provides access to all tools involved in creating, building and viewing your documents. The best practice to install MiKTeX, TeXnicCenter and Adobe or better SumatraPDF do the following: Download the installer program for MiKTeX (I suggest the complete installation, so use net installer to avoid missing packages like your fancyhdr.sty!); Install MiKTeX. Contribute to dramco-edu/LaTex development by creating an account on GitHub. RefTeX is another plugin to Emacs, independent from and complementary to AUCTeX, which aids you with the management of bibliographic sources.; It makes all your references as easy to find as a C-c, for both BibTeX and biblatex, and also provides convenient shortcuts for navigating between sections in your document, bound by default to C-c =.
